After diving into my two project ideas I have decided that I will benefit more from the project that involves teaching children about communication theories.
Research Plan
As I have begun my research on this topic I have found that there seems to be a void in the information we are giving children about communication. From what I have found so far the majority of what children learn about how to communicate with others is learned through their observations. My goal is to create a book and a webpage that will actually teach them communication theories in simple forms. Right now I am planning on focusing on interpersonal communication theories, but as I continue to research this may change. The research I have done so far has primarily come from scholarly journals, but I have and will continue to look for any general information that I can find on this subject in other articles. I will use academic databases to access this information.
Program Learning Outcomes
I think that this project will require me to reflect on a lot of the information I have learned during my time at Dixie. This project will demonstrate a knowledge of interpersonal communication theories. It will also show that I can explain, apply, and teach these theories in simplest form. There will be a lot of content creation for this project as I want to create a children's book and a webpage for children to explore communication.
